TMCEC is happy to announce that after a 15-month hiatus, we will resume in-person events in August.
This momentous milestone coincides with our most eagerly anticipated series of events of the year: the 2021 TMCEC Legislative Updates.
Logistical Limitations
Like many of you, we are excited about this announcement. However, as we anticipated, logistical problems remain. Although hotels are open for business, many are still unable to accommodate the number of people that customarily attend TMCEC events in person. This means that TMCEC will likely be unable to accommodate everyone who wants to attend a Legislative Update session in person.
It is not just hotel operations and logistical challenges; many cities have declared travel moratoriums and have suspended travel budgets. Because of travel restrictions, individual health concerns, or some other concern, TMCEC understands that there are many different reasons why you may not be ready or able to attend an in-person event this summer.
The Plan
We have a plan. In addition to the four in-person events, TMCEC is happy to announce that the Legislative Update on August 24 will also be a hybrid/cyber-simulcast. TMCEC is committed to making the simulcast a one-of-a-kind, memorable experience.
Please read this paragraph carefully. The dates and locations of the 2021 TMCEC Legislative Updates are: August 10 (Lubbock), August 17 (Dallas), August 20 (Houston), and August 24 (Austin). Each of these in-person events will be limited to 100 participants. (First come, first served.) TMCEC will maintain a waiting list. However, because of space limitations, no walk-up registrations will be allowed on the day of these events. All participants must register online and receive written confirmation prior to attending in person. Remember: you are not officially registered for any event until you receive confirmation from TMCEC.
If you are unable to secure a seat in person, please register for the cyber-simulcast on August 24. We want it to be the biggest TMCEC online event of AY 21.
The discounted registration fee is $50 ($100 with CLE reporting).
Time Is of the Essence
We think that it is only fitting that registration for the TMCEC Legislative Updates shall begin at the stroke of midnight on June 1 as the 87th Regular Legislature comes to conclusion (sine die). To increase the chances that you get a seat at the location of your choice, we suggest having the registration page open at 11:59 p.m. on May 31 to be one of the first to register! (And may the odds be ever in your favor.)
So set an egg timer. Write yourself a note. Ask Siri or Alexa to remind you. Tie a yellow ribbon around an old oak tree. Whatever it takes to remember to register! We anticipate these events will sell out quickly.
