National Highway Traffic Safety Administration – Homepage of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), under the U.S. Department of Transportation. NHTSA is responsible for reducing deaths, injuries and economic losses resulting from motor vehicle crashes. This is accomplished by setting and enforcing safety performance standards for motor vehicles and motor vehicle equipment, and through grants to state and local governments to enable them to conduct effective local highway safety programs. And also conducts research on driver behavior and traffic safety, to develop the most efficient and effective means of bringing about safety improvements.
American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators – Homepage of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators, a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization striving to develop model programs in motor vehicle administration, police traffic services and highway safety. AAMVA is an educational organization which represents the state and provincial officials in the United States and Canada who administer and enforce motor vehicle laws.
American Association of State Highways and Transportation Officials – The goal of the Strategic Highway Safety Plan is to reduce the annual number of highway deaths by 5,000 to 7,000 and to do so cost effectively and in a manner acceptable to the general public. The site contains a fully searchable database about the many publications, programs, and people concerned with highway safety. Users can also find current research on issues not directly related to the Safety Plan as well as national and statewide highway safety legislation.

Organization dedicated to promoting and defending the role of motor vehicle transportation in providing U.S. mobility, economic growth, productivity improvements, defense, safety and individual freedom of choice.
Bureau of Transportation Statistics – Homepage for the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, a statistical agency established for data collection, analysis, reporting, and to ensure the most cost-effective use of transportation-monitoring resources.
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety – The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is a nonprofit research and communications organization funded by auto insurers. For over 30 years the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has been a leader in finding out what works and doesn’t work to prevent motor vehicle crashes in the first place and reduce injuries in the crashes that still occur. The Institute’s research focuses on countermeasures aimed at all three factors in motor vehicle crashes (human, vehicular, and environmental) and on interventions that can occur before, during, and after crashes to reduce losses.
US Department of Transportation – Homepage of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), a part of the Department of Transportation headquartered in Washington, D.C., with field offices across the United States. The FHWA performs its mission through providing federal financial assistance to the States to construct and improve the National Highway System, urban and rural roads, and bridges. The program provides funds for general improvements and development of safe highways and roads. And by providing access to and within national forests, national parks, Indian reservations and other public lands by preparing plans, letting contracts, supervising construction facilities, and conducting bridge inspections and surveys.
