Celebrate Municipal Court Week!
This Fall, municipal courts, city councils, and local communities across Texas will have an opportunity to recognize the work of local courts and personnel by celebrating Municipal Court Week.
Possible activities:
- Post a copy of the Texas Legislature's House Resolution 973.
- Ask your city council to issue a local proclamation.
- Host a tour of the court for city council and the public, and have the presiding judge give a speech or presentation.
- Show the TMCEC video, Role of the Municipal Court in City Government, to schools and civic groups.
- Invite a local high school government class to host a mock trial.
- Sponsor a staff appreciation luncheon or pot luck dinner.
- Author a Q & A column in the newspaper all week on how your municipal court works.
Please send copies of your activities, calendar, and news clippings to TMCEC so that we can share them with other courts.
