Programs - Judges - Alternate Judicial Education

Experienced municipal judges who have completed two years of TMCEC courses may opt to fulfill the 12-hour mandatory judicial education requirements of 2009-2010 by attending a course offered by an approved continuing education provider. The accredited providers are American Academy of Judicial Education, American Bar Association, Harvard Law School, Juvenile Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, State Bar of Texas PDP Program, Texas Council on Family Violence, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Project, Texas District & County Attorneys Association, Texas Justice Courts Training Center, Texas Juvenile Probation Commission, Texas Municipal Courts Association, University of Houston Law School and Foundation.  Contact information can be found here.

The course must relate to the jurisdiction of the municipal courts and be at least 12 consecutive hours in length. Video, audio, and on-line programs are ineligible.
