LRE Pre-Conference: Driving on the Right Side of the Road

STOP! Don’t speed past this training opportunity that combines social studies skills and important traffic safety issues. Participants will receive lessons and relevant information that incorporates specific Texas legislative and judicial processes while encouraging TEKS development and TAKS preparation. Lessons incorporate the latest Law-Related Education instructional strategies, as well as the opportunity to utilize judges and court support personnel as resource persons in classrooms. Although social studies classes will be the main focus, other disciplines can readily use the materials.

All participants will receive a kit containing the differentiated units, appropriate support material, class sets of manipulatives for small and large group instruction, and online computer games information.
A hotel room on Wednesday February 2, 2011 will be provided for most pre-conference attendees at no cost, some travel and meal reimbursement may also be provided.
A limited number of spots are available.

About Your Expenses for the DRSR Conference:
Limited TxDOT grant funds are available to pay for sleeping rooms at the hotel on Wednesday, February 2, 2011. A travel stipend up to $100 will help with travel and meal expense. You will be asked to seek reimbursement, documenting the expenses, and be reimbursed up to $100. Receipts are required. Tips and alcohol are not allowable. Mileage or airfare will be reimbursed. Mileage at a rate of 50 cents a mile, based on Google or Mapquest mileage estimates.
Note: This reimbursement is only for those attending the DRSR Conference. Expenses incurred on February 4-5th during the LRE Conference are not reimbursable under this grant.
This conference serves as a preconference to the 2011 Law-Related Education Conference sponsored by the State Bar of Texas. Participants do not have to attend both the LRE and DRSR conferences.
